#WomenWednesday

YCL Calgary is hosting Part II of their leadership Series May 24 at Wild Rose Brewery and Tap House!

Are you is interested in furthering your careers? Whether you currently view yourself as a leader or not, we will explore why our personal mission, vision, and values are critical as we continue to develop our abilities, no matter where we are on the leadership continuum. We will also discuss the importance of leveraging failures as growth opportunities, and considerations in creating supportive work cultures.

This session, facilitated by Cam Hodgson of Podium Enterprises, will be run as a “hot stove” presentation with two leaders who are definitely guided by their mission, vision, and values. The intent is to relate the examples of the speakers to your own personal situations, and to be provided food for thought and reflection as you continue learning to lead.

1 of our guest speakers on the hot stove is:

Christine Nordhagen, a pioneer female leader in a male dominated sport culture. Christine has always led by example through her amazing work ethic, positivity, and determination. Her accomplishments include:

  • 10 time Canadian Wrestling Champion
  • 6 time World Wrestling Champion
  •  Olympian
  •  First woman inducted into the International Wrestling Federation Hall of Fame and the Canadian Amateur Wresting Association Hall of Fame.
  •  Inducted in the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame
  •  Recipient of the “Breakthrough Award” from the Canadian Association for Advancement of Women in Sport

"When Christine starting competing there were few Canadian women registered in wrestling. By the time she retired, there were thousands of women wreslers, not counting non-registered girls at the high-school level, registered in wrestling," according to Greg Mathieu, executive director of the Canadian Amateur Wrestling Association.
