22nd Steacy Easton Memorial Cancer Classic Golf Tournament - June 10

Join us in support of a GREAT cause, 
the fight against Cancer


The CCA will be hosting the annual Stacey Easton Memorial Golf Classic tournament on June 10th.

This year's theme is BLACK & WHITE! Prizes will be awarded to the best dressed foursome.

Location:      Country Hills Golf Club 
                        (1334 Country Hills Blvd NW)
Time:             8:00 am - 4:00 pm 
                        (8:00 am Shot Gun Tee Off)
Entree Fee:  $231 ($220 + GST) per golfer

Note: Entree fee includes buffet breakfast, green fees, power cart and dinner





   
 
Women in Construction Scholarships - APPLY NOW! 

We are now accepting applications for our CCA Women in Construction Scholarships. Two Scholarships for $1,000 per academic year may be awarded to support and encourage women entering the construction industry. 


Deadline to Apply: May 29, 2015

Successful applicants will be awarded the scholarships at the Women in Construction Golf Tournament on September 10, 2015.

This session will deal with the causes for time and cost overruns on construction projects and the types of claims that result on account of these overruns. Particular attention will be paid to communication as the failure to communicate between project stakeholder makes the claims invariably more difficult to resolve.

This session will address how project stakeholders can minimize and sometimes avoid construction claims. The focus will be on project delivery methods, contract administration and project controls.

Legal Series - Analysis of Claim Costs - May 21

This series of presentations will discuss common shortcuts by project stakeholders that result in time and cost overruns during construction that invariably result in construction claims.

Resolution of construction claims requires logical and credible quantification. The focus will be on delay and productivity claims which are too commonly poorly put together. In a workshop format, various items of claim will be discussed including areas wherein claims are frequently inflated.

Legal Series - Scope Creep & Dispute Resolution Methods 
- May 21 

This series of presentations will discuss common shortcuts by project stakeholders that result in time and cost overruns during construction that invariably result in construction claims.

This session will initially deal with a common source of frustration for all parties – scope creep - and then examine the pros and cons of the various means construction claims can be resolved.

The Canada-Alberta Job Grant - Funding available for Training your Employees
Make your application to the Job Grant program to cover getting your Gold Seal designation

The Canada-Alberta Job Grant will give you up to 2/3 of the registration fee (up to $10,000/employee) for training existing employees or those you are intending to hire. Whether taking one course or a combination of courses, the training must be a minimum of 25 hours and be completed within 52 weeks. Training covers expenses such as exam fees, textbooks, etc.

Note: The training receipt cannot be dated earlier than the date of your approval letter from the government so get your application in before you pay for the course. Applications should be submitted at least 30 days before the start of the training. Applicants cannot apply more than six months in advance of the training start date.

The Gold Seal Program has a requirement of a minimum of 150 hours of training. Managerial courses related to the discipline you are applying for qualify as appropriate training. The Job Grant program will cover Gold Seal training costs and exam costs.

All training that CCA offers of 6 hour duration or longer, or is packaged as a series qualifies for Gold Seal credits. This includes courses such as: Construction 101 (16 hours), Getting the Best from Human Capital Series (6 hours), and Design Build Fundamentals (8 hours). Combine these courses with E-learning Courses and you have 25 hours to qualify for the Job Grant. Look at other educational offerings and combine together on one application to make your 25 hours!
