Thursday, October 22, 2015
11:30 am - 1:30 pm
Coast Plaza Hotel

Join us for the Women in Construction Luncheon for an opportunity to network and to share ideas on how to benefit women in the construction industry.

Speaker: Jacqui McFarland
Jacqui McFarland is a Senior Interior Designer with Sizeland Evans Interior Design, and a former Instructor and Department Chair of the Interior Design program at Mount Royal University — her 30 year career has encompassed numerous projects, from highly detailed residences to large scale commercial offices.

Topic:
On Being MacGyver*— How to build an 8,000 square feet luxury residence in 270 days — an Integrated Project Delivery case study.

Jacqui will share a recent highlight in her career: participating in an Integrated Project Delivery model in the creation of a beautifully appointed residence in the seemingly impossible 30 weeks. Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) is a project delivery approach that collaboratively harnesses the talents and insights of all participants to optimize project results.

*about MacGyver

Being Highly Effective with Everyday Construction Disputes - September 22

The cost of the everyday disputes that arise on and off the jobsite is staggering both financially and emotionally. These disputes rob people and companies of time and money and in many cases entangle many into a legal nightmare where everyone loses. We have a system that is built for “arguing” issues, usually legally, and weak on “preventing” issues. And, these everyday disputes will crop up day after day around conformance and defects, deviations from plans and specifications, extra and out of scope work, delays, RFP’s and Requests For Information, or just plain old personality clashes.

In Memory of Harold Perrin

Harold Perrin, Vice President, Project Delivery Office, recently passed away, leaving a huge void for his family ad friends. Harold worked with Stantec for over 38 years, and was incredibly well known and well respected around the office, with his clients, and in the greater community. He truly helped shape Stantec over the years. He was a friend and mentor to so many of us, and we are deeply saddened by his loss.

Members of the Calgary Construction Association are deeply saddened by the news of Harold's passing. CCA sends our deepest sympathy to Harold's family, friends and business colleagues.
