Third Annual
Women in Construction Golf Tournament

The CCA's Women in Construction Committee hosted its third annual golf tournament at Silverwing Links Golf Course on September 10. The tournament welcomed over 130 women dressed in green to promote green initiatives, reflected by this year’s motto of “Live Green, Think Green and Build Green.”

To raise funds during this tournament, a 50/50 raffle was held, which raised $430. Additionally coffee and Baileys was offered to the golfers for a $5 donation, which raised $500. Thanks to these generous donations, a total of $930 was raised at this tournament, which was all donated to the Highbanks Society, a non-profit organization which offers hope, housing and support for single moms who are trying to build a better life. Catherine Laing, Operations Manager at Highbanks Society joined us for dinner to receive the donation.

Being Highly Effective with Everyday Construction Disputes - September 22

The cost of the everyday disputes that arise on and off the jobsite is staggering both financially and emotionally. These disputes rob people and companies of time and money and in many cases entangle many into a legal nightmare where everyone loses. We have a system that is built for “arguing” issues, usually legally, and weak on “preventing” issues. And, these everyday disputes will crop up day after day around conformance and defects, deviations from plans and specifications, extra and out of scope work, delays, RFP’s and Requests For Information, or just plain old personality clashes.
