2016 CCSD Dual Credit Celebration

On May 17, 2016, CCA had the pleasure of celebrating the accomplishments of a number of high school students in the Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP), Apprenticeship Technical Program and Pharmacy Assistant Program. This celebration was hosted by the Calgary Catholic School District (CCSD) and SAIT.

Dual credit celebrants triumphantly walked across the stage to receive their certificates as parents, siblings and faculty proudly applauded and snapped photos.

2016 CCSD Dual Credit Celebration

In addition to the above article, a big congratulations to Jason Wedholm of Clark Builders and his lovely daughter Emma.

Jason has been an active member with CCA volunteering his time most recently as an instructor at the "Super Superintendent" course series and also with the Cold Weather Construction Seminar series. CCA had the opportunity to sit with Jason and Emma during the CCSD Dual Credit Celebration. Emma gave a wonderful speech on her success during the Dual Credit Program and the benefit to pursue post-secondary education while still in high school. Emma was presented with her certificate as a Pharmacy Assistant.

Congrats Jason and Emma!

Junior Achievement (JA) Southern Alberta’s Trades Business Youth Forum

As part of the JA Southern Alberta’s Entrepreneurial Trades program, Calgary high school students who are currently pursuing the trades pathway in school, were invited to learn from local trades professionals in our round table format career forum. Students were exposed to a variety of trades career possibilities, the training and education required and were able to get a glimpse into what a typical day on the job looked like.

CCA's Construction Career Development Coordinator Toni Casamassima was invited to participate in this event.
