CCA Congratulates Tyler Bungay as Person of the Year

Tyler Bungay, President of Botting & Associates has been on the CCA board for the past seven years and most recently played an instrumental role in forming the new Young Construction Leaders Committee. This new group will assist the CCA in bettering services such as enhancing the association's social media presence, the utilization of technology and innovation and become more involved with the community. 

In addition Tyler was the chair of the CCA building committee which oversaw the $1.3 million dollar modernization of the Calgary Construction Centre. A tremendous amount of time was invested by Tyler throughout this complex process to ensure the work was completed on-time and on-budget.

Thank you Tyler for embodying leadership and your dedication to bettering the construction community in Calgary.

CCA's 10th Annual CONSTRUCTION CAREER EXPO welcomed over 2800 students

Celebrating its tenth anniversary, CCA's Construction Career Expo took place on April 20, 2016 at the BMO Centre on Stampede Park. Canada’s largest construction expo hosted over 2,800 youth who came from Calgary and surrounding area junior and senior high schools. Upon arrival, youth were given an array of complimentary colorful t-shirts showcasing the tenth anniversary expo logo.

With 48 exhibitors, Stampede Park was bustling as students had the opportunity to get hands on experience in different construction trades. Some of the displays included, but were not limited to carpentry, masonry, electrical, welding, millwork and virtual simulations.... Read More.

Congratulations to CCA Industry Partner Janaka Ruwanpura, Vice Pro Host International at the University of Calgary

Dr. Janaka Ruwanpura was recently awarded with the Immigrants of Distinction Award for Science, Technology, Engineering & Math. 

Ruwanpura has demonstrated exceptional leadership at the University of Calgary and in partnership with the Calgary Construction Association. Ruwanpura lead a team of U of C researchers on how to improve construction productivity with CCA members over a period of eight years. Ruwanpura's i-Booth, the "Productivity Toolbox," along with the designated "Construction Productivity Improvement Officer" has lead to greater efficiencies and improvements to productivity on institutional and commercial job sites.  

Congrats Janaka on this well deserved honour!

The Apprenticeship and Industry Training Scholarships are designed to recognize the excellence of Alberta apprentices and trainees and to encourage them to continue to complete their apprenticeship or occupational training.

The CCA has many hard copy applications available if you would like to apply for one of these $1,000 scholarships.
