Fort McMurray Construction Association Calls on Government for Inclusion in Fort McMurray Rebuild

Members of the Fort McMurray Construction Association are calling on the Alberta government to allow local contractors to be included in the procurement process and provided with an opportunity to bid on wildfire fighting and cleanup work.

CBE Students "Got IT Covered"

The Calgary Board of Education has successfully completed its first exploratory floor covering program in partnership with NAIT (in Calgary), Universal Flooring and the Alberta Flor Covering Association (AFCA). Nine students from three CBE high schools participated in an off-campus program that was designed to expose students to several aspects of the floor covering trade. READ MORE

Defence Construction Canada E-Procurement Awareness and Industrial Security Clearance Session

Defence Construction Canada presented to CCA’s members yesterday about E-procurement awareness and Industrial security clearances. 

Greg LaBine, Team Leader for Construction Services, detailed the background of Industrial Security and how it would specifically affect the construction industry. Security requirements must be appropriately identified, implemented, and monitored for DCC contracts with industry. Companies will now be required to be security cleared prior to commencing work.

According to a recent report of the World Economic Forum it considers the Construction industry’s productivity to be “meager”.
