Rocky Ridge Recreation Facility Site Tour

Thank you to the Young Construction Leaders (YCL) and PCL Construction for hosting a site tour of the Rocky Ridge Recreation Facility on October the 20th.
Along with an impressive tour, PCL Project Coordinators Iian Ho and David Ediger shared some of the products, processes, and challenges associated with constructing this approximately 284,000 square foot complex building project.
Once complete, this finished project will be a one of a kind multi-function building that will house an arena, gymnasium, library, theater, running track and swimming pool. The innovative roof structure of the facility is constructed via structural glulam beams and is a work of art. We look forward to seeing the finished project in 2017.

Pictured are site tour attendees which include YCL members, PCL Project Coordinators, CCA staff and members standing in front of the Rocky Ridge Recreation Facility.

 CoP Hosts " Lean Coffee"

One of the great reasons to use a Lean Coffee is to learn and support each other in Lean endeavors. Mixed groups and company groups meet to get help, test ideas and share progress of adopting a Lean strategy. Lean Coffee is a “free space” for people to get to explore issues and concerns that they otherwise don't get to discuss. This free space gives people a chance to try out behaviors, exercise leadership, get help, give help and grow professionally.

Friday, November 4th, 2016
7:30 AM - 9:30 AM

This Session is Complimentary

A new unemployed apprentice training program was announced by the government on October 20. A
total of $1.5 million will be made available to assist as many as 1,500 eligible apprentices during the

To receive the award, eligible apprentices must not be working in their trade and must have successfully

post-secondary institution or other training partner. Apprentices who meet the criteria will be identified

CCA Chair’s Interview: Why Do You Support the Trans Mountain Expansion Project

“Stand up for projects of national interest,” said CCA chair Gilbert Brulotte. “Improving Canada’s capacity to access additional foreign markets for our energy exports is in the national interest as it will enhance our capacity to obtain fair market value for these products, which will generate the additional government revenues required to sustain government investments in health care, infrastructure, transportation, education and training.” Read more
