  2017 Provincial Skills Competition

Each year the CCA supports local high schools in Calgary, that have a construction trades program, to attend the Alberta Provincial Skills Competition in Edmonton.

The CCA has received two letters of appreciation from students who were supported by the CCA to attend this years skills competition.

"Thank you for your support for CBE students to attend skills" James Fowler Girls in Trades

"Recently, my mom and I had the wonderful opportunity to attend the Provincial Skills Competition in Edmonton. This was largely due to your generous donation, to cover the cost of bussing the selected student and volunteers. Thank you for doing so as it showed options for careers in trades and technologies." Marisa Fiori and Janice Fiori

Thank you CCA members for your continued support of the CCA Education Fund that enables students to explore construction career opportunities.

"Getting Invited to the Party" - Can You Make it Through the RFQ, RFP and Interview Gauntlet?

Friday, September 8th, 2017
7:45 AM - 2:30 PM MDT
Calgary Construction Centre

In today’s construction world, getting work means you have to get “Invited to the Party”. The course brings together “a great panel of experienced construction experts (Peter W., Labbe-Leech Interiors)” who have participated on both sides of the RFQ, RFP and interview gauntlet, as well as provides a hands-on approach to writing and presenting your organization with its best foot forward. This course is “succinct, to the point, and highly engaging (Bradley M., Westcor Construction)” and provides both the individual and organization with a new approach.

Calgary Community of Practice (CoP)
On Sept 9, 2016, the Calgary Construction Association launched the inaugural Calgary Community of Practice (CoP) under the guidance of LCI-C.
It has been meeting every 6-8 weeks since that time. The meetings are held on Friday mornings from 7:30-9:00 with a complimentary networking breakfast.
The morning begins with a speaker followed by Lean Coffee. Lean Coffee is a “free space” for people to get to explore issues and concerns that they otherwise don't get to discuss. This free space gives people a chance to try out behaviors, exercise leadership, get help, give help and grow professionally.

Alberta Construction Association News

Dear Colleagues: ACA supports the mission of Canadian Construction Innovations. CCI advocacy has led to an unprecedented opportunity to access research funds at a level to make a quantum jump in our industry better serving client needs and thriving in an increasingly challenging competitive marketplace.

In support of CCI, ACA urges members to endorse CCI’s Letter of Intent, as outlined in Pierre Boucher’s email in the link below. You may have value chains of preferred partners seeking to advance the use of a new material or process. Or, there may be issues that are pre-competitive in nature where you would benefit from collaborating with peer contractors.

Please submit response prior to July 21.

Thank you for your consideration of joining the effort and accelerating the momentum of CCI serving our industry.
