We are deeply troubled by the extent of destruction of communities affected by the wildfires currently raging in British Columbia. As a member-centric association and as an industry we must step up and help in all ways possible to support those affected e.g. through volunteerism, or provision of supplies, equipment, un-used camp accommodations and /or financial donations. Here4BC was created in an effort to bring the construction industry together, from companies to associations throughout Canada to support those who have been displaced, lost homes, businesses and much more as a result of these wildfires.
CBE is making front line improvements with the FES Lean Team
The Calgary Board of Education Facilities and Environmental Services (FES) team is using Lean principles to help the department be more efficient, reduce waste and increase staff engagement.
“This work has a direct impact on students in classrooms by ensuring we use resources wisely in support of learning,” said Dany Breton, superintendent Facilities and Environmental Services. “We are proud of the way the group has come together and worked with their co-workers to make a difference in their jobs on the front line.”
The FES Lean Team was established in June 2016 with 15 staff members from across the service unit. The team worked to brainstorm together to identify what FES processes could be improved and where staff could make an impact on the work they do each day.
